Sunday Ghost Story Club
Series One – 2026 Dates:
- January 25th 4pm – 6pm GMT
- February 22nd 4pm – 6pm GMT
- March 22nd 4pm – 6pm GMT
Price: £25 per session (All held online via Google Meet)
Aims: These workshops are designed to inspire new work, revive old projects, revise and question choices made during the writing process and push the writer into further enquiry into their writing craft and the craft of the ghost story, using a mixture of source texts from both classic and contemporary ghost stories. Participants will also be encouraged to set personal goals for their writing. This will be a safe space to encourage confidence and to meet and find your community.
General outline of each session: Reading of source materials provided by your facilitator and key texts for inspiration and group discussion.
Each class will consist of a warm-up writing exercise, creative prompts, a reading from a source text and individual writing time. Throughout the year we will be exploring classic and contemporary ghost story themes and devices such as: atmosphere, classic ghost story tropes, types of hauntings, locations and landscapes, pacing, tone, foreshadowing and fear – what makes a story frightening and how to obtain and maintain that sweet spot of dread!
There will also be opportunities to discuss elements of the writing process, such as the writing ritual, editing and the submissions process at sessions throughout the year.
Each session is individually crafted and will focus on a different aspect or theme each time. Book all three or drop in just for one. New dates for each month will be added throughout the year, so please sign up to receive notifications whenever new workshops are added.
